Louis Grier, 1864 - 1920 was an Austrailian artist heavily influenced by the likes of Whistler and French Impressionism, he was a reknowned marine landscape artist, hence the scene depicted in this painting. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street Galleries.
